ACCESS for ELL’s
ACCESS for ELLs is an English language proficiency test designed to measure English learners’ social and academic proficiency in English. This assessment is used to determine the English language proficiency levels and progress of ELs in the domains of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Educators use ACCESS results, along with other WIDA resources, to make decisions about students’ proficiency with English in academic contexts and to facilitate their language development. Students’ scores reflect proficiency levels ranging from Level 1 (Entering) to Level 6 (Reaching). Students exit when they get a cumulative score of 4.8 or higher.
Test scores can be used for accountability purposes
As a measure to make reclassification decisions about whether a student can exit English language support services (intervention groups)
To support decisions about placing students into appropriate classes or groups for instruction, instructional planning
To show the progress students have made
ACCESS for Ell’s will be administered starting February 6th. If you have any questions about WIDA (Access for ELL’s) please contact Mrs. Saad
